Ridiculousness in the routine

I don't like change. Not big changes anyway. I'm the kind of girl that likes for everything to have a place, purpose, and schedule. And I'm usually flustered if anything gets changed or mixed up. I just so happen to be married to a man who WAS late for his own wedding and WILL be late for his own funeral...that folks, I'd bet money on.

Its always bothered me that Dave is a fly by the seat of your pants kind of guy when it comes to schedules, routines, and arrival times. Invitation said seven, Dave will stroll in around 7:45. That's just how he is. He always has been, I should be used to it after almost 10 years!
Its really sad, but the one and only thing Dave is ever on time for is a baseball game or baseball practice. If it involves a diamond, a bat and a ball....he'll be there 2 hours early. Yes, it drives me up the wall!

Lately, my schedule has been thrown all out of sorts! Baseball season is almost in full swing. Dave isn't getting home until well after 7pm. I've been working late trying to play catch up from a two week hiatus we had while we were all busy working on a audit. And quite frankly, its all starting to get to me. I have a "schedule" that I like to stick with or close to during the week. It keeps me from losing my shit and also keeps things in orderly fashion so that everyone can find their clean laundry and keys on a daily basis.

Morning:
  1. Alarm goes off around 6:10am.
  2. Take the pup outside before he loses all control...literally.
  3. Shower.
  4. Wake David up for work.
  5. Dance around and dodge each other in the bathroom to get ready on time.
  6. Put any dishes from previous night in dishwasher or put in a load of laundry.
  7. Run the swiffer vacuum over the floor (Bronx sheds more hair than Campbells has soup, so this is a must several times per day!)
  8. Feed the pup his breakfast.
  9. Make up the bed and push all drawers back in.
  10. Put up any shoes or clothing laying around. (Dave and I are both guilty of trying something on, and then just laying it over a chair or on the dresser)
  11. Clean up the drips and crumbs from the pup's breakfast.
  12. Wipe down the counter tops.
  13. Turn the heat down. Lock all doors. Make sure all appliances are off.
  14. Pick up any last minute items that may be scattered around.
  15. Put Bronx up in his kennel for the day. Lay the leash and treats out for my Mom. (My wonderful Mother comes on the days I can not to take Bronx for a short walk and potty break)
  16. And finally...grab a breakfast bar and leave for work, all by 8am.
I have a similar routine in the evening which is pretty much the same, except for the fact that I usually cook dinner through the week so I have to hurry through my other tasks to make time to whip up some grub! I wont be a bore and go through the whole list but these "schedules or routines" that I have are what keeps everything running smoothly in my house and without them, I'm a mess!

Which is exactly what I've been for the past few weeks....A BIG MESS!! I need some order back in my life and I'll be damned if anyone is going to stop me from getting it! Today, I make a stand....I will go home and get back on my routine so that I can be a normal person again, instead of a hot mess!

Now, after all that ranting I wonder, does everyone have a routine? Does everyone feel like a hot mess when their routine gets off track?
